DDR Buea: Ex Separatist Combatants “Radicalised”, Promise More Protests

Things seem calm after disgruntled ex Fighters for the Ambazonian “Virtual Country” stormed the Bossa street in Buea, February 1st, demanding for their Freedom. The more than 50 youths who appeared in the center’s yellow and Red jerseys, didn’t retreat without making worrisome utterances that jeopardize the peace of the centre and the South West Region entire.

Looking wild with sticks, cruel tones, beer bottles, cigarettes and even other hard drugs, verbal bashing and threats that made nonsense of the huge military deployed to them, one could quickly rather wonder how these fighters had been this Radicalised in a Reintegration Center.

“…We have just started with Bossa Junction. Next , we will move to other streets and quarters in Buea if we are not freed”. They told Administrative authorities in loud voices while demanding to see no one else but the “Father”, Governor.

Bossa- Bokwoango Road

It therefore took tact and perseverance by The Secretary General to the South West Governor’s Office, Dr Mohamadou, The Divisional Officer for Buea, Abba Abduraman and a host of Military commanders more than 5 hours to restore peace from the chaos.

These fighters say their time is far overdue at this center and demand their release. Talking to one, he says; “We are striking because we were told we will be released after 6 or 7 months. Its over and we have been here for more than a year. We have our families, wives and children we need to care for, that’s our cry

Barricade

Onlookers present like many who have seen the strike images online, have been regretting the unfortunate event. Many blame the Structure for inadequate management skills that have often killed the trust of the other arms_carrying youths still in bushes. This given that the Fighters are not new in their Complains especially on issues relating to living Standards, work offers and Liberation time frame from the centre.

Same Complains have been launched by their counterparts of the DDR in Bamenda, North West Region seemingly making it hard for Government to manage her promises as more fighters keep enrolling into the centres.

However, others still hold to the opinion that, 6 months isn’t enough time for mental rebuilding, learning of New cratft and getting job for all as promised by the State. Though Government has rewarded some few with jobs, alot is yet awaited. Its therefore a moment authorities should address these fighters to advert any more of such retaliation that will only go to create more violence in the ongoing tension.

In a country like Cameroon where Jobs are hard to find, opportunities are indeed a real luck, availing these close to 400 youths of both centres with jobs or start_up capital is what might be very daunting for the Cameroon Government.

To avoid further days of doom, and STRIKES, time to act is NOW!

Cameroon Military: Four boys “Neutralised” in Bamenda are AMBAZONIAN TERRORISTS.

Military Communication Boss, Atonfack Guemo Cyrille Serge on behalf of the Cameroon Ministry of Defense, has declared some 4 young boys killed in Bamenda, Capital of North West Region as Armed Terrorists for the Ambazonian Movement. A communique he signed to this effect dating January 27th 2020 indicates that, the population had alerted the the 5th Gerdarmerie Region about this group operating in the Bamenda II subdivision under the guide of a certain GENERAL TIGER.

It adds that, the boys were planning an assault on the military before their Waterloo on that faithful afternoon.

As the military vehicles approached, these armed individuals who were busy consuming hard drugs were taken by surprise and immediately opened fire on the elements of the defense forces, who provided an energetic and appropriate response”. Part of the communique reads.

Full Communiqué from Ministry of Defense

Col Atonfack also says some others were injured and are on the run, while tens of “M21 S and FAL type” weapons were retrieved from them. Also that, local authorities have confirmed that the building used by the boys is a temporal confinement center where kidnapped persons are kept before transportation to their camps for torture and Ransom taking.

Tensions had gone wild on saturday 23rd January, afternoon, when these four boys amongst, students of the Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Down Town Bamenda, came under the Barrel of military weapons. The incident that happened at the Famous T-Junction, in the heart of the city linking Atua-Azire (Metta Quarter) and Old town, is one of another ugly events in the ongoing crisis that still has many inhabitants taken aback.

The outing by the Cameroon military has not been received genuinely by a cross section of persons interviewed by the STANDARD MIRROR. Some say an independent investigation need be done to ascertain if actually the boys killed were Deliquent School children or members of the Dreaded Ambazonian Seperatist movement. Others argue that unlike other cases where the weapons are brandished on the scene of the act, this case was not the same as only drugs and not arms were seen on the boys. Another school of thoughts have drawn inspiration from a similar situation that happened in same kind building in Buea, South West region some months ago where about 3 drugs-consuming boys were shot in similar circumstance.

Given the security challenges in the North West and South West Regions, a good number of inhabitants think youths must desist from indecent lifestyle to avoid the heavy arm of the security. Drug Consumption, Late nights, shabby dressings, unkempt hair and other forms of criminality traits are dangarous especially for young men.

However as it stands, the communique from the military remains a document to fully be endorsed by many who think its not honest enough, that the military may have made an error like the case of NGARBUR, North West region, but should be able to admit.

Family members of the Boys killed have not made any official statement yet.

Mafany Musonge; Betrayed Patriot or Xenophobic Accomplice?

OPINION:
Jude mbaku

In the wake of the current Anglophone crisis that started in 2016, a certain commission had been created to unite the tribes and cultures in the country, and most especially, encourage a humane living together between people West and East of the River Moungo.
The Commission was created by decree No: 2017/013 of the 23rd January 2017 and placed at the head, Former Prime Minister Peter Mafany Musonge.

The main task of the 15_ man National Commission for Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, NCPBMC, is to Conduct studies and surveys proposing measures likely to strengthen the bilingual and multicultural character of the Cameroon. Prepare and submit draft instruments on bilingualism, multiculturalism and togetherness and most importantly, receive petitions against discriminations arising from non-compliance with the constitutional provisions on bilingualism and multiculturalism and report thereon to the President of the Republic for proper action.

However, the recent events of hate speech, cultural and ethnic animosity brawling between indigenes of the North west and South West Regions are opening fresh cracks, clearly visible to the fact that, Living together even ¨IN-HOUSE¨ had never been real.
To make matters worse, the deafening silence of this Commission has confirmed what many think is a moribund structure, just one of those little pretentious measures by the current Government in solving the Crisis between both sides of the Cameroons.

WITH WHAT EVIDENCE IS MAFANY GUILTY?
In less than 3 months, a certain Young Chief in the South West Region prescisely in Fako Division has released more than 5 videos recorded by himself and his team Preaching Hate, Division, Anarchy, Chaos, and unprecedented but also bewildered threats on the inhabitants of the North West Region living in the South West Region.
Chief EWOME Eko John of Bwassa village is beleived to also be a member of the Cameroon Military unit, The Rapid Intervention Batallion, BIR, in its french Acronym.
This man also called MOJA MOJA has been fervent in his outings, calling on indigenes to excommunicate Northwesterners from South West accusing them of taking their jobs, Recruits of the Ambazonian Separatist fighters and Killers of South West Chiefs; a narrative that is fast gaining grounds in that part of the country. They had even gone as far as accusing Northwesterns for not also killing their Fons when kidnapped.

Chief EWOME EKO JOHN aka Moja Moja

While many think that its an emotional issue that spill unconscious actions down the spines of natives of FAKO DIVISION or elites of the Bakweri tribe where many chiefs have been murdered already for yet to be investigated reasons purportedly by Ambazonian sepratists fighters, more other people think that, the Administration of the day is overtly tolerant and a promoter of these heinous and xenophobic utterances from such Cameroonians.

Otherwise, the law gives no room for hate speeches, not even when a Cameroonian is denied Rights to live in any part of the larger triangle.

The December 24th 2019 law enacted by the head of state, Paul Biya, had addressed changes relating to tribal hatred as amended and supplemented to the provisions of Law No 2016/7 of 12 July 2016 relating to the Penal Code. According to article 241 on contempt of races and religions, words on social media in addition to the traditional media which denotes tribal hatred are punishable.

The law goes further (241-1) to punish hate speech or violence against people because of their tribal lineage. Defaulters will have face a two-year jail term or pay a three-million FCFA fine. The fine will be doubled if the words are propagated by an official, political party, media, non governmental organisation or religious institution.

This NCPBMC Is silent, Not an ARREST to these Perpetrators who have find in hate speech. A Clear case of this Chief called MOJA MOJA whose activities with banned firearmes, guarded by state military personel and Top dignitaries is jeopardising collective living together in a crucial moment of the country s history. This commission has not issued even a single statement, communique, Press Release, call it what may, denouncing the actions of this agent of National Disunity. Why is Musonge and his people silent? This is Cameroon.

The above paints a picture of a powerful Elite who has chosen to go docile on an issue that can break the country more into pieces despit his pivotal role in bringing thing urgently to normal under a giant structure he controls with state resources. Is he a victim of circumstances or a supporter of what he preaches against? Little wonder Ministers like that of territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has often been celebrated as a statesman of unmatched workaholism spirit for his stern actions even when it works against his own people.

THE SHOCKING PART OF IT ALL

WHO IS MUSONGE?
This is what the online free encyclopedia says about him;

Peter Mafany Musonge, born December 3, 1942 is a Cameroonian politician who was Prime Minister of Cameroon from September 19, 1996 to December 8, 2004. Musonge was born at Muea in the Fako Division of Cameroon’s South-West Region. He received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering at Drexel University and received a master of science degree in structural engineering at Stanford University, and has worked on a variety of projects. He has been a longtime supporter and assistant of President Paul Biya, and is an Anglophone and a member of the Bakweri ethnic group. He left his position as Prime Minister after a cabinet reshuffle which followed Biya’s successful 2004 reelection, for which Musonge served as campaign manager. Musonge is a member of the Central Committee of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM).Biya appointed Musonge as Grand Chancellor of National Orders on April 4, 2007.

 The free encyclopedia, Wikipedia

How the NCPMCB Has not called this Chief, MOJA MOJA to order? is visible that he has an agenda intandem to that of the Government and Elites like Musonge, who has failed the aspirations and values this office, NCPBMC and many others he carries, stand for. The Government and its ever care-free Officials are seemingly in a Winery feast for dragging their adversaries, Anglophones, into commotion- Scoring OWN GOAL.

Note must be taken to the fact that, despit the years of fighting in the Anglophones regions against what they term French Cameroon marginalisation, French Cameroonians have never been targeted in those regions. Above all, The hundreds of thousands of Anglophones who pour into the French speaking regions have received unprecedented love and humane care from Cameroonians who speak french. Visibly, the love Between These French and English speaking Cameroonians is stronger than the So called brotherliness between North West and South West which many say has been hidden under code names like GRAFFI and KAM NO GO, for over the decades.

Should Mafany and his Team take the step in the right direction to summoning the Xenophobic Chief to the Military Headquarters in Yaounde as well for possessing arms wrongly, they would have been doing the right thing. The law can not be good for the goose and ugly for the Gander. Xenophobia and Tribal Cleansings is worse than protests of the MRC Political Party whose members are jailed across the country for attempting street protests which is a basic human Right.

Till then, Cameroonians are yet to see the role of the Mafany s Commission in executing its real task apart from buying exorbitant cars and awarding self for work yet to be done. This can only be in Cameroon.

Let Humanity be an action from the heart, not a position for Political Gains.

Ambazonian “Dirty” War Turns towards Peace-Seeking Young Anglophone Musicians

Top three of the artists to have received a new wave of dead threat are emblematic young singers, Standley Enow, Magasco and Tzy Panchak. Others however, are not safe as their names will be revealed subsequently for possible assassination. The ugly pronouncement made by a self_Styled Defend chief of the “Ambazonian”, Tapang IVO Tanku, has again kept the Anglophone community and the entire nation in an oblivious horizon, as to what these separatists really want!

The supposed crime of these musicians is that, they are advocating for a peace resolution of the ongoing conflict in their regions, North West and South West Cameroon, that has claimed thousands of lives and more still in danger. Tapang, a long time hardcore Ambazonian activist based in the United States of America, declared their possible arrest of these artists in a facebook live show, Wednesday October 28th 2020.

According to the Chief of Rebels, as he fondly calls himself, these artists amongst others met and are deciding that the crisis ends, therefore, jeopardising their suppose independence, and against their Modus operandi to achieving that dream.

I want to make this very clear to the international community. We are gunning for war with La République Du Cameroun. Any Ambazonian musician, artist or whosoever you call yourself belonging to Cameroun, be very weary because in the days ahead, you will be arrested. I am calling in particularly, Standley Enow, Magasco, Tzy Panchak and a couple of people earmarked for immediate arrest in Ambazonia. These people are terrorists… These artists are notorious, they are terrorists and attention seekers”, said Tapang.

Tapang, ADF activist

After the killing of 7 children at the Mother Francisca International School in Kumba, Chief town of Meme Division, South West Cameroon, these artists had joined the online campaign hastag #Endanglophonecrisis, calling for a stop to the killings especially on children and women. In the week that followed, more than 50 musicians, actors, presenters and bloggers had met in Douala to seek for a strategy to get their voices heard.

Though many think it’s an issue to wave aside given the frequency of Tapang’s verbosity and outings of hate, the act has been condoned by many supporters of the Ambazonian ideological stream and goes to stamp the fact that, the movement is somewhat responsible for gross human rights atrocities in the restive regions. Also coming at a time when fingers are pointing at Ambazonian fighters for the murder of those school Children, one can’t sweep the threat on the lives of these celebrities and more under the carpet for the sake of it.

To recall is the fact that, these Activists of Ambazonia had launch a similar manhunt for advocates of school resumption in those areas. Teachers have been brutally murdered as well as students hands cut off by the independence Thirsty group. Many have also opined that , these Activists use such opportunities for self inflicted pain on their people inorder yo attract international attention, though on the negative note.

Also, not just the musicians but Women, Youths, Footballers, Journalists, Teachers, Lawyers, politicians and many groupings have condemned the killings in Kumba and indict both parties to act under same hastag, #endanglophonecrisis.

Despite the fact that these artists had released several songs over the years on the crisis, they were more inspired by the #Endsars protest in Nigeria, early October where their peers had played a momentous role in calling for reforms and the end of the Nigerian Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.

Government has remained adamant with very little done for a genuine dialogue with these rebel groups despite calls from all over the globe. Fears continue to mount for the dead trap tarries in the cocoon of ordinary Cameroonians. Though musicians haven’t made any public outing on this recent development, it is clear that the war dynamics have shifted from the neighbor’s house back to a man’s bedroom.

Another Arrested Anglophone Journalist, Crew go Missing.

The Camaeroon Association of English Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ is yet to see the corpse of Samuel Wazizi who died just recently after illegal detention. Here comes another, Tah Maih Javis, reputatable investigative journalist for My Media Prime TV based in Douala arrested and yet to be seen.

Tah Maih who was lastly spotted at Diedo, Douala, cameroon’s Economic Capital on a Live Tv report for his media organ was arrested amongst many others who were protesting the ousting of long serving President Paul Biya of Cameroon who has been in power for close to four decaes. The protest was called by Professor Maurice kamto, Leader of the Cameroon Rennaisance Movement Political party who himself was reprimanded under House Arrest.

The Journalist alongside his Cameraman Tebong Christian, reports say they have been moved from the Mboppi Gardermerie to an unknown detention location. No military sources have made a statement on their whereabout.

The President of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ,Viban Jude in his outing just a day after the september 22nd Protest says, the arrest is arbitrary. “ We find the arrestarbitrary and unlawful and therefore demand their immediate release. Their arrest amount to nothing less than a breach of of the right of the journaliststo liberty and legitimate performance of his reportorial duties” , say Viban.

U.S Secretary for African Affair , Tibor Nagy has also expressed frustrations over the arrest of Peaceful protesters and Journalists by the government military forces. According to Nagy, every democratic Government must listen to the worrying voices of their oppositions and give them free Rights to protest.
Of the about 4 journalists arrested over the protest in Yaounde and Douala, Jarvis and Crew is believed to be the only left despite all identifications.

The Committee to Protect Journalists, CPJ has also condemned this arrest.
Tah Maih Javis is reputed one one of Cameroon’s most daring Journalsit to cover the war events in the restive South West Region of the Country as he has been to ravaged communities like Ekona, Muyuka, Mbonge etc, to paint a reality of the people in the war.

The ugly arrest as usual , is a continuous series of repressive approach adopted by the government of Cameroon in cracking down of the Press.
Cameroon currently is ranked one of the continent’s worst jailers of journalists after Eritrea.
Some who had earlier died in cameroonian Jails include Bibi Ngota and Samuel Ajieka ( whose corpse is yet to be accounted for).

The Cameroon English speaking Journalist are bracing up for a showdown should any further delayance be accorded the journalistic crew.

Women’s Taskforce, SNWOT Fostering Social Cohesion Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic

The South West North West Women’s Taskforce, SNWOT has embarked on a project to foster social cohesion in five of Cameroon’s ten regions amidst COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
The three-fold mission project titled “fostering social cohesion amidst COVID-19 in Cameroon” is being implemented in the North West, South West, West, Littoral, and Centre Regions.
SNWOT says their response to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country is in line with her humanitarian commitment to ensuring decent, healthy, and adequate living standards for all humans.
SNWOT is sensitizing the masses, providing psychosocial support and championing advocacy on the need for social cohesion within vulnerable groups like the internally displaced, physically challenged persons and grassroots communities.
The women have since July 21 been in the West, Littoral, and Centre Regions carrying out a door-to-door sensitization on COVID-19. Daily, no fewer than 250 of those displaced by the conflict in Cameroon’s North West and South West Regions have been reached with messages and materials aimed at stifling the spread of the novel coronavirus.
In the 13 divisions of the conflict-hit North West and South West Regions, SNWOT has gone beyond sensitizing the masses on COVID-19 and providing them with protective materials. They went ahead to identify and train some 130 women leaders to serve as community advocates to push back COVID-19 and build community resilience.
Within the context of fostering social cohesion amidst COVID-19 in Cameroon project, 20 women have also received training on Psychosocial First Aid provision to victims of trauma and/or violence in armed conflict.
When the project ends Friday, July 31, 2020, SNWOT hopes that they would have made yet another vital input in responding to COVID-19 as well as its effects on the populations of the North West and South West Regions who have been trapped in a conflict pitting state forces and non-state armed groups.
With thousands of people killed and hundreds of thousands displaced as a result of the unrest, pundits say SNWOT’s project to foster social cohesion amidst a health threat like COVID-19 comes as a huge relief to the suffering masses.
The Women’s Taskforce had earlier on urged parties to the conflict in the Anglophone regions to observe a mutually respected ceasefire through a negotiated settlement.

SNWOT Calls for Urgent Ceasefire, More Humanitarian Actions in Anglophone Cameroon

The most renowned body that brings together females of the crisis hit North west and South West Regions of Cameroon against the ongoing war, has frowned at the nonchalance of frontline belligerents involved, towards a United Nations Unilateral Call for a Global Ceasefire. In an media outing, July 13th 2020, the South West North West Women Task Force, SNWOT says, it encourages both parties to consensually choose talks over Guns, while regretting that many more innocent civilians keep dying from bullets.

The movement acknowledges Government’s recent move in ensuring recovery of affected communities and also thinks more resounding efforts needs to be done in that regard to bring much more humanitarian needs to the people who are in dire need.

We recognise that at this point recovery is crucial, as it will help the population get the much needed humanitarian assistance. We therefore pinpoint this as a common proirity to parties in conflict so as to relief the suffering masses“, States the communique Tweeted by it’s National Coordinator, Sally Mboumiem.

Press Release of July 13th 2020 by SNWOT

In acknowledging the role taken of late by the Cameroon Government in relieving the suffering of the more than a 8 million affected in the crisis, “We call on all parties to realize that reconstruction which is physical, Systemic, and structural will be highly beneficial if it is supported and approved by all parties” the Communique adds. Paul Tasong, Coodrinator of the Reconstruction plan has been touring these regions, consulting every stakeholder and the general population on rebuilding destroyed facilities and compensating the most affect. many have criticized the move however, saying it’s impossible to rebuild while the war thrives.

ABOUT SNWOT:

SNWOT is one of the frontline Movement made of women of different walks of life who in solidarity have been advocating for a premature death to the ongoing war between Armed Separatists of “Ambazonia” and the Government Military forces. The women say those involved are their husbands and sons, knowing how painful Child bearing and growth process takes, they must raise their voices loud.

The Movement has members even in the diaspora and had organised what they termed a “Lamentation” against the atrocities in both regions, where they wail and wear “Mourning rags” as a sign of pain.

Separatist have however accused the women on several occasions like many other groups of the Anglophone origin for complicity with the regime of the day to slow their struggle, an allegation which the women have often denied as a sabotage for political gains.

This outing by SNWOT is coming at a time when there had been an purported pre talk between Government and detained separatist leaders in Yaounde. Minister of Communications however has debunked it claiming military will continue it’s job of protection in those region. The Government has repeatedly say it can not dialogue with “Terrorists”, thereby hardening the position of the “Amba Fighters” who have continued their atrocities, to a greater extent, unperturbed.

PEATTU wears human face, calls off Strike for Students’ sake

In a recent Official Document from the Presbyterian Education Authority Teachers Trade Union dated July 12th 2020 Signed by it’s President, Afuh Stephens KWAH (on behalf of the Executive), the ongoing strike of the PEATTU teachers have been called off.

The primordial reason advanced by the body is the fear to entangle learners and parents in the financial brouhaha deviling their Association and her Employer, The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC. For stopping the strike that has been on for one week now though in low key, they say;

– We have listened to appeals from Parents, Students and Pupils who are innocent and should
not become victims of circumstances either as sponsors or learners in their academic pursuit;

-The PEA Teachers and other Workers recognize and acknowledge that their grievances are now being sufficiently handled at the level of State Stakeholders, being the Ministry of Secondary Education, the Ministry of Basic Education and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security;

-That the Teachers/Workers remain conscientious, level-headed and have the students and pupils at heart.

The teachers had gone on a strike since July 6th protesting against their maltreatment by the church and financial misunderstandings. It is not clear if this call is indefinite given that their grievances according to them are yet to be full met as the church had not said anything official.

Fears had arisen of their decision to go on an indefinite strike given that official examinations come up anytime soonest. This move therefore is going to give the students another opportunity to fine-tune their lessons before the exam dates.

For further reasons why the PEATTU called for a strike action, checkout our previous post. https://guru.news.blog/2020/07/01/presbyterian-schools-in-danger-peattu-strikes-in-examination-session/

Presbyterian Schools In Danger, PEATTU strikes in Examination Session

Students in Presbyterian schools have been told by the trade union of Presbyterian Teachers, to independently, with the aid of their parents, continue to read their books at home and prepare for end of course examinations indicating that God Almighty will see the children through. The Union has also called on parents to bare with them as they take the hard stance of engaging another strike action in the days ahead.

In a strategic meeting held monday June 30th in Bamenda, the members of the Presbyterian Education Authority Teachers Trade Union (PEATTU) say, they will embark on an “Indefinite” Strike action from Monday July 6th 2020 to raise their voices against “Injustices” metted on them by their employer since 2018.

According to the communique released by this trade Union, they had signed a Protocol agreement on the 28th of November 2018 between the Union, Staff representatives of their Schools on one hand, and the Moderator of the Presbyterian church, School managers, Education and Finance Secretaries, and chairman of the PCC board of Trustees. This in what is seen as between an Employee and an Employer respectively.

The teachers note sadly that, the ministry of Labour that Brokered the Agreement between both had attempted to no avail to get the employer respect the terms.

We have written several correspondences which the ministry of labour that brokered the agreement has been copied, which they acknowledged and equally wrote to the church hierarchy to respect its engagement to no avail. As a result of the indifference, disrespect of state Institutions, that is the labour ministry and even her employee of the ministry, we as a union have decided that there will be a sit-down strike in all our functional schools until the proprietor gives a definite answer to the following demands; … part of the Statement sighed by PEATTU leaader, Afuh Stephen reads.

“With the situation of exams, we have children too who are in school but what do we do? how can we even go to school and teach without eating? we are treated as sub humans. We can not fall infront of the children. The church probably thought of these children before doing this” Esam Jerry, a staff Delegate of PCSS Buea told STANDARD MIRROR.

Of the four demands, they say they need their first 2 unpaid installments which deadline is long passed, a cancellation of slashed percentages of salaries unto August 2020, Reinstate the collection of Union Check-offs(dues) and reflect on workers payslips and lastly, Review again the terms and level of implementation of the Protocol agreement earlier signed.

This decision by PEATTU is worrisome as exams are due to take off anytime soon, being the most crucial and controversial exam year for student due to the Coronavirus Pandemic that Perturbed studies for a while. How best or prepared the children are, remains a point of worry to many parents. The Teachers Trade Union of the Presbyterian church has often been under the spotlight for ill treatment and attempts to strike.

Authorities of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon have often denied allegations of not paying teachers and claim its a malicious attempt to ruin the church. They say even in the midst of the socio-political crisis is bedeviling their educational bastion, the North west and South West Regions, They have continued to atleast give some payments to these teachers. The Moderator of the church had also warned about taking Churchs’ issues publicly and on social media, this has stop many officials of the church from responding to worries like such, an example being the educational secretary of PCC who had been rumoured of building a mansion while teachers issues go unresolved.

The crisis had closed many PCC schools and what is left is 14 Nursery, 20 Primary and 11 Secondary schools with about 30 Nursery, 170 Primary, 298 Secondary teachers, many retrenched. The Church or School authorities have not commented yet on this new development.

PEATTU is one of the trade unions that took part in the teachers strike that morphed to the new waves of what is widely known as the Anglophone crisis today. There are fears of what a strike in that part of the country might result to.
